Strip clubs in Portugal

30 places

Strip clubs are licensed bars with dance shows: a stage with a pole, tables and sofas, a bar and sometimes private rooms for table dances. In Portugal they cluster in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve, with venues on the islands and in a few mid-size cities. They open at night, usually from 10pm, and close between 4am and 6am.

Only venues with a bar licence and a public address are listed here. Every listing says whether it has been verified with the venue and, if so, when and how. We do not list escorts, brothels or personal ads.

What to expect

Entry is paid at the door and usually includes a drink. In Lisbon and Porto it runs from 10 to 30 euros; in the Algarve in high season it can be more. Drinks inside cost more than in a normal bar, and champagne bottles are the house's premium product. Ask for the price list before ordering.

Stage shows run continuously through the night. Private dances (lap dance or table dance) are paid separately, per song, and have clear rules: no touching unless the house allows it. Dress codes vary: the classic Lisbon venues expect smart clothes; the Algarve is more relaxed.

Who goes

Stag groups, couples, tourists and regulars. Many venues welcome women and couples; some run nights aimed at them. Group bookings are made by phone or through the website.

Legal and safe

A strip club in Portugal is a licensed drinks venue with set opening hours. What separates a strip club from a hostess bar is the stage show: the performers are hired to dance, not to keep customers company. Pimping is a crime in Portugal (article 169 of the Penal Code), so no venue with rooms or sexual services is listed in this guide.

Always confirm opening hours with the venue before going: hours and entry rules change with the season.

Frequently asked questions

How much is entry to a strip club in Portugal?

Between 10 and 30 euros in the main cities, almost always with a drink included. In Vilamoura and Albufeira in summer it can be more. Drinks and private dances are paid separately.

Do strip clubs admit women and couples?

Most do. Some venues run nights or shows aimed at women and couples. If in doubt, call ahead.

What is the difference between a strip club and a hostess bar?

A strip club has a stage show and the performers are hired to dance. In a hostess bar the staff keep customers company and encourage drinking. Both are licensed bars; this guide lists only those with a public address and a licence, and never any that offer sexual services.

Can I take photos inside?

Almost never. The general rule is no photos or filming, to protect performers and customers. Ask the venue.

What time do they open?

Most open at 10pm or 11pm and close between 4am and 6am. Many close on Sunday or Monday. Each venue's hours are on its listing, but confirm before going.
