Cabaret, burlesque and dinner shows in Lisbon
Lisbon has had cabaret since the 1930s and burlesque since the Pink Street stopped belonging to the sailors. This article is a tour of the five houses with a public address in the guide, from the city's oldest drag show to dinner served in lingerie.
Finalmente Club
In Príncipe Real since 1976, Finalmente is Lisbon's oldest drag show and an institution of the gay night and beyond. Show from 2am, with a resident company, and the house full of every kind of crowd at weekends. Entry with a drink.
Maxime Restaurante e Cabaret
On Praça da Alegria, Maxime is the city's historic cabaret, with dinner and a variety show, burlesque and live music. Booking required for dinner.
Pensão Amor
On Rua Nova do Carvalho, in Cais do Sodré, the old sailors' boarding house is today a bar, cabaret, erotic bookshop and the Purple Rose sex shop, all in the same building. Burlesque shows and dance classes on set nights; the rest of the time, a bar whose decor is worth the visit.
Grande Cabaret Lisboa
The newest house, with revue, burlesque and comedy, as a show with dinner or just with a drink. Programme on the website.
The Lingerie Restaurant Lisboa
Dinner served by models in lingerie, with a show, no nudity. It is the city's most requested hen and stag dinner and runs on bookings. There is a sister house in Porto.
What to expect
Entry between 10 and 25 euros with a drink at the show houses; dinner with a show between 50 and 90 euros per person. Mixed groups are the norm. No photos during the acts. See the listings on the cabaret page.
