Cabaret, burlesque and erotic dining in Portugal
0 places
Cabaret is a show with dinner or drinks: burlesque, drag, dance, comedy and variety acts in a theatre room or a bar with a stage. Portugal has historic houses in Lisbon, new rooms in Porto, and themed restaurants where the service is done in lingerie and the show happens between courses.
It is the most photogenic side of adult nightlife and the most open to everyone: couples, groups of friends, stag and hen parties, tourists.

Types of venue
Classic cabarets have a fixed programme, several shows a night and table reservations. Burlesque is theatre of seduction with humour: artistic striptease with feathers, sequins and a story, without full nudity. Drag nights mix song, dance and comedy. Erotic restaurants serve a multi-course dinner with waitresses in lingerie and dance shows on stage; they are the typical choice for stag and hen parties.
Prices
Dinner with a show costs 40 to 90 euros per person, depending on the menu and the table. In bars with a stage, entry runs from 10 to 25 euros with a drink. Booking advised at weekends; required for groups.
What to expect
A party atmosphere and loud music in the restaurants, more quiet and attention in burlesque rooms. Photos allowed in many venues, but ask. Dress code: going-out clothes.
